Grizzly Cage youth boxing classes encourage overall physical fitness, focus, reaction time, explosiveness, spatial awareness, balance, and social skills development. We highly value the significance of learning sport based fundamental movements during the formative years, and of course have a great deal of fun getting there! Our trainers emphasize the critical importance of respecting the instructor through active listening and of equal importance honouring classmates/training partners.
The Grizzly Cage youth program now includes testing with age/gender based standards for kids to work towards while attending sessions. Tests were chosen for 3 categories: fitness, power & speed, physical literacy and flexibility. Youth sessions will have activities tailored towards those categories. Standards were created and validated by research studies on thousands of youth across Canada and the US, ensuring accurate and purposeful tests to help kids improve their confidence and competence in performing various physical activities. The purpose of testing is to allow children to set goals, evaluate their physical activity, and stay motivated by earning prizes for reaching certain milestones. Progress will be measured on a quarterly basis throughout the year.
Our Boxing Skills Based Programs are designed to introduce participants to the sport on a non-contact level giving them a fun learning environment. Safety, discipline and positive character development are of the utmost importance. Not sure if your child will like it? Try a First-Timers Intro Class before registering for membership (see below).
